Get Yourself Acclimatized
The climate will be different in high altitude area. Failing to acclimatize will lead you to cancel your expedition. So, the key to a successful expedition is to get yourself acclimatized. Otherwise, you may end up having AMS, HAPE, HACE, etc.
AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)
In high altitude, the number of oxygen molecules decreased per breath. So, your body must adjust to this condition. If the body fails to adapt then it will lead to acute mountain sickness. Headache, fatigue, short breath, nausea, etc. are common facts of this. So, it is important to give time to your body for acclimatization. It will roughly take two to three days to adjust with less oxygen level.
HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema)
HAPE is another form of sickness in high altitude. In this disease, fluid starts to build up in your lungs. It blocks the oxygen exchange. It leads to decreased level of oxygen in your bloodstream. Short breath, weakness, impending suffocation, etc are common symptoms of HAPE.
HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema)
It’s another form of sickness in high altitude. Headache, disorientation, memory loss, hallucinations, etc. are common symptoms of HACE.
If you are prepare for going for Aconcagua expeditions, then you must do regular exercise. You exercise must include cardio, dead hangs and pull ups, running, jogging, etc. Try to jog in high altitude area so that your body gets used to with the height. Put some weight in your back while running. This will help you while climbing.
